AFRICAN FISH EAGLE
Haliaeetus vocifer
The African Fish Eagle is a large bird and the female weighs approximately 3.2 - 3.6kb and is larger than the male that can weight up to 2 - 2.5kg. Males usually have a wingspan of about 2m, while females have wingspans of 2.4m. They are very distinctive in appearance with a mostly brown body and large, powerful, black wings. The head, breast, and tail of African Fish Eagles are snow white and the hook-shaped beak is mostly yellow with a black tip.

TOCO TOUCAN
Ramphastos toco
The Toco Toucan has a striking plumage with mainly a black body, white throat, chest and upper tail - coverts and red under tail - coverts. The most noticeable feature, however, is its huge bill. Males are larger than females, but otherwise both are alike.

AFRICAN WOOD OWL
Strix woodfordii
The African wood owl is a medium-sized owl with dark eyes and no ear tufts, It is 30 to 36 cm long and weighs from 240 to 350 grams. It breeds from July to October and lays 1 to 3 eggs in a hollow in a tree and it will then incubate the eggs for about 31 days. Five weeks after the eggs hatch, the young will leave the nest and will be able to fly 2 weeks later. The young remain with the parents for about four months and will sometimes stay till the next breeding season. Its call is a loud series of fast hoots. It is not threatened and is common in almost all of its range.

SPOTTED EAGLE OWL
Bubo aficanus
The Spotted Eagle Owl is a medium to large owl with prominent ear tufts. The upper-parts of the body are dusky brown with pale spots; the under-parts are whitish and finely barred. The facial disk is whitish to pale ochre and the eyes are yellow. Its height is 45cm and its weight is from 480 to 850g. The wingspan is 33cm. They are nocturnal hunters and will spend most of the day concealed in trees, rock ledges or abandoned burrows. Spotted Eagle-owls mate for life.
